Prajna Yoga Immersion with Tias + Surya Little: August 19-20th

PRAJNA YOGA IMMERSION - EXPLORING THE BODY’S TIDES, WAVES AND CURRENTS
with Tias & Surya Little, August 19 - 20

Coming up next week--just when we need it most--we welcome world-class master teachers from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Tias and Surya Little, back to Orleans for four sessions of Prajna Yoga. Though their rich and eloquent teachings, Tias and Surya provide us with the opportunity to slow down the fast pace of summer on the Cape, immerse ourselves in practice, and reflect on this beautiful, yet often harried time of year. This summer’s immersion promises to be rich with tradition and innovation, and we are so fortunate to have them here on the Cape! Yogis, you do not want to miss this event...

"Prajna" means insight, deep understanding, and wisdom in Sanskrit, and is at the heart of Tias and Surya’s teachings. Each session is an intentional and delicate untangling of the layers of the body, giving us access to the quiet space inside where self-knowledge resides.

Philosophy, meditation, illuminating anatomical instruction, and teachings from the Buddhist tradition are expertly woven into the fabric of the practice, making for deep and accessible exploration. Their teachings will inform your understanding of the yoga tradition, awaken the subtle body, and offer therapeutic benefits and insights that are invaluable on the yogic path.

Tias and Surya’s teachings have been the thread of wisdom through my practice and teaching for close to a decade, and this past May I was able to travel out to Santa Fe for a transformational and profound week of inquiry and practice at the Prajna Temple. It was truly amazing to study with them in their immaculate and powerfully spiritual home studio (I can’t wait to go back!), and I am more thrilled than ever to host them here in Orleans next week. I hope you will join us!

You can learn more about each of their workshops below.

Namaste,
Petra

*Please check out Tias' new book, Yoga of the Subtle Body: A Guide to the Physical and Energetic Anatomy of Yoga, available for purchase at the studio! With expert teachings, philosophical insights, and pragmatic imagery, Tias turns the anatomy of the physical body into a tool for navigating the subtle body. A wonderful read for before, during or after the workshop, for all levels of yoga practitioners.

WORKSHOPS:

The Tides of the Fluid Body
Friday, August 19th 2-5 pm
The body’s essential nature is fluid, and the prana (life force) flows like a tide. In the body, the fluids move in wave-like movements in the blood, lymph and cerebral-spinal fluid. In this class, yoga practice is devoted to feeling these tides and amplifying their rhythms.

Riding the Wave of the Breath
Friday, August 19th 6-8 pm
In yoga practice we follow the rise and fall of the breath, noticing its ever changing nature. In this class we practice yoga postures and flowing movements (SATYA) to allow the wave of breath to widen, soften and deepen. By riding the wave of the breath we prepare for pranayama, the yogic art of breathing.

Flowing Currents
Saturday, August 20th 9am-12pm
Vinyasa in yoga suggests linking poses together, in the way that choreography in dance creates continuity of movement. Often the word vinyasa is translated simply as "flow." In this class we hone the art of vinyasa, by emphasizing precision, ease and fluidity. Practicing vinyasa with discrimination allows one to build greater staying power and meditative awareness within the poses.

The Ocean of the Heart
Saturday, August 20th 2-5 pm
It is said in the Rig Veda that the whole universe is set within the ocean of the heart. This class explores the heart as a metaphor for the depth consciousness. In yoga practice we open the shoulders and chest in order to expand the waves of breath within the ocean of the heart.

$60 3-hr single session
