Retreat to Dominica: A Caribbean Yoga, Nature and Culture Immersion with Petra

The island of Dominica (pronounced Dom-i-NEEK-a, not to be confused with the Dominican Republic), is located in the Windward Islands chain of the Caribbean and characterized by lush tropical rainforest, mountain springs and waterfalls, and unspoiled natural beauty surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise seas. This protected island remains untouched by mass tourism and is known as “The Nature Island” due to its many unique ecosystems that are home to diverse species of plants and animals.

Last winter’s Retreat to Dominica was a dream, and I am thrilled to partner with the Jungle Bay Retreat Center again to offer this week-long retreat pairing yoga study with adventurous excursions to fully immerse in the nature and culture of the Caribbean. Celebrated for promoting sustainable eco-tourism in the Caribbean and beyond, the 19-acre Jungle Bay property is one of the first-of-its-kind “edible resorts” with over 100 varieties of tropical fruits growing right outside your door. Accommodations are beautiful villas (suites & rooms) each with a raindrop shower, private patio, and surrounded by hummingbirds. The resort hosts two restaurants with fresh and healthy island food (serving mainly vegetarian & vegan as well as fish and chicken and some meat options), a spa for massages, etc., and two swimming pools and a hot tub overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Unplug from your daily routine and escape the chilly winter to deeply relax, reconnect, and rejuvenate in the healing Caribbean sun, jungle and sea.

Important Flight Information:

We recommend you book your flight early as Dominica is a relatively remote destination - flights and flight capacities are limited.

The best routes I have found are:
1. Jet Blue or Delta/Sliver Airways: Boston – San Juan – Dominica
2. American Airlines: Boston – Miami – Dominica
